I arrived at St Benet's in September 2019, from Keble College, where I was Fellow by Special Election in History, and Senior Tutor for an American study abroad programme. My role here involves working with my academic colleagues to oversee the Hall's teaching provision and intellectual life. I am also a member of the University of Oxford's History Faculty; I'm a historian of western Europe during the tenth to twelfth centuries, and have collaborated on some work comparing China and western Europe in the middle ages. I grew up in Oxford, did my first degree in history at the University of Manchester, then my graduate degrees at Oxford, where I was a student at Christ Church. My doctorate was jointly supervised by Dr Jean Dunbabin and Professor Henry Mayr-Harting (who, among his other distinctions, is an Honorary Fellow of St Benet's).
