Welcome to St Benet’s Hall – a unique community at the heart of the University of Oxford dedicated to personal and intellectual formation. We proudly continue our ancient Benedictine tradition of inviting our undergraduate and postgraduate students, our fellows and lecturers, our staff and visitors, as well as our monastic community, to our hospitable table. Our Libraries, our Common Rooms, our Refectory, and our Chapel, in the two beautiful buildings we are fortunate to inhabit, our Georgian home in St Giles and our Victorian Gothic house in Norham Gardens, provide spaces of encounter for persons from all over the world, as well as nourishment for mind, body, and spirit.
We welcome students, staff and visitors, from all faiths and none, to participate in a community of mutual respect and of genuine engagement with one another. Tolerance is easy, whereas attention, respect and love require work, study, contemplation, and a genuine will to explore and understand. Thank you for visiting our website. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further help to you, whether you are a prospective student, a member of our community of alumni, a researcher, a donor, a conference organiser, or just interested in our Benedictine ethos, tradition, and vision.
