Burns Night

The Hall celebrated a black tie Burns Night Supper with the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties, and Cranachan pudding. JCR Secretary, Cormac Connelly-Smith, (pictured) read the Address to a Haggis and led the toast, after JCR President, Sam Marks, paraded it to bagpipe accompaniment. The Hall welcomed The Rt Revd Dr Martin Lind of the Lutheran Church in Great Britain as our first Tuesday dinner speaker this term. The Bishop gave a timely speech on Holocaust Memorial Day about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the subject of his doctoral thesis. Bonhoeffer, a Lutheran theologian and member of the German resistance, was imprisoned by the Nazis at Buchenwald and Flossenbürg concentration camps before his execution in April 1945.  Pictured:...
