In co-operation with the Centre for Culture and Health at the University of Gothenburg, St Benet’s Hall co-hosted a hearing on Medical Humanities 13-15 January 2014. 23 scholars from Britain and Scandinavia discussed the emergence and scope of this field of research and teaching and explored medical, cultural, religious and sociological aspects of promising interdisciplinary approaches to issues of health and health education today....

On 13th November, The Master of St Benet's Hall, Professor Werner Jeanrond, took part in a live debate organised by Lund University on "What is a human being?". The other panellists were Antje Jackelén, the Bishop of Lund and Archbishop-elect of Uppsala in Sweden, Johannes Persson, Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at Lund University and Lena Andersson, writer and columnist. On Thursday 7th November, the Hall warmly welcomed Professor William E Simon Jr and his wife to  St Benet's Hall. Students and Hall members had the opportunity to meet personally with Professor Simon over tea, before attending his lecture on  'American Catholicism: Contemporary Challenges and Opportunities' at the Ioannou Centre for Classics and Byzantine Studies.
