The Junior Common Room
St Benet’s Hall has a very active common room. As well as facilities
including pool, table football, television and video, and computer room,
there are sporting possibilities available, including rowing in the St
Benet’s Boat Club, rugby, soccer, croquet and hockey (in conjunction
with other Colleges and Halls).
Although much smaller than the usual College JCRs, St Benet’s has an active social programme, including a Christmas party, a Hilary Party, JCR summer picnic held on Port Meadow from 7pm to 7am (the talk of the town each year) and the JCR Garden Party in Trinity Term. There is no subsidised bar, but beer and soft drinks for the members of the JCR are provided free of charge: a well-loved SMEG fridge keeps the drinks cool.
