Master's Welcome

Welcome to St Benet’s Hall – a unique community of intellectual and personal formation at the heart of the University of Oxford. We proudly continue our ancient Benedictine tradition of inviting our undergraduate and postgraduate students, our fellows and lecturers, our staff and visitors as well as our monastic community to our large hospitable table. Our library, our Common Room, our table, and our Chapel in our beautiful Georgian building provide spaces of encounter for persons from all over the world and nourishment for mind, body, and spirit.

We welcome students, staff and visitors from all faiths and none to participate in a community of mutual respect and of genuine engagement with the otherness of self and other. Tolerance is easy, whereas attention, respect and love require work, study, contemplation, and a genuine will to explore the mystery of the human person.

Thank you for visiting our website. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further help to you whether you are a prospective student, a member of our community of alumni, a researcher, a donor, a conference organizer, or just interested in our Benedictine ethos, tradition, and vision.
